Today I was in the neurological inpatient gym working with spinal cord patients and amputees. It was pretty cool. I haven't had much exposure to amputees so far and no exposure to combined spinal and amputee patients. I got to see several different physiotherapists working which was very interesting. There are less regulations in Israel so many PT just use their own strength to treat patients instead of equipment. I was also with 4 other student about the same age as me so I made some friends. We exchanged information so with any luck they will show me around this weekend.
I also got free food at lunch. Coffee, a pastry, and a sandwich. A man from an insurance company gave 45 minute talk that I completely didn't understand. You think a boring lecture is bad? Try one where you only understand 1 word every 5 minutes.
The afternoon was quieter and I spent more 1 on 1 time with 2 of the therapists. I saw out patients and an antigravity treadmill. Today really helped me gain insight into the health system.
I was done at 4 so I headed into the city to see some more sights. As I mentioned before Israel loves models. I went to the shalom tower this evening and saw models of houses, buildings, and the city of Tel Aviv. The picture is taken as if I were standing in the Mediterranean Sea. I think I have been over stimulated Karly because I stood in a very interesting exhibit about Tel Aviv and found myself staring at the words pretending to read so I glance around quickly to see if anything else caught my interest and then went to Max Brenner for some chocolate.
