4/30/2015

So I haven't been blogging recently and I feel very far away from home. That's probably a good indication that I should put it up more often. I have been meaning to I've taken lots of pictures but I just haven't taken the time.
So since last time I blogged. I had my monthly visit up to Cann Valley. Damien came with me this month.
As always I had terrible rental car trouble so we just got a car in Melbourne and drove up together. I worked my normal shift and then we went camping at Cape Conran national park. We were actually 13km away from the Cape at pearl point. We are still camping in our 1 season tent despite the rain and highs on 12C. On Saturday we took the walk along the beach to the Cape where we explored for a bit and made pancakes on the publicly available gas grills. Then we jogged back to try to get to our tent by dark. We didn't make it but hot chocolate and cards are just as good in the dark.
Sunday we packed up and drove to the Cape to go see the gorge that we missed on our walk. It was worth the detour. Then we stopped in Nowa Nowa because there was a market. We got dumplings of several varities and fudge. Raspberry, vanilla and mint chocolate. We took our chocolate to the tressle bridge outside of town. I have been meaning to stop on my past several trips and finally saw the turn off with the help of a navigator.
We stopped at little Alice my new favourite cafe for late lunch before driving back to see the last night of the comedy festival.
The week of work was fairly uneventful except for orienteering on Tuesday night where Damien came first and we went out for only slightly disappointing Mexican food. And Tuesday when we had friends over for games night where I made a chocolate cake and we played power grid.
Then last weekend we did the Brimbank 50k. Damien ran it and was the event Physio. It was pretty cool.

On our way out to dinner at Shri Lankan we stopped at organ pipes park to see volcanic rock formations( you'll recall that I did this with Kat too last year:))
This week has been quiet but long days at work. I have tomorrow off and we will hopefully go car shopping :)

4/15/2015

If you haven't noticed the blog has been on a bit of a hiatus. Here's what has been happening:
I was working at the nursing home in Werribee and my phone got pick pocketed on my lunch break. A real live pick pocket! Crazy I know. So I lost my ability to blog on my way to work. Without that and with limited ability to take pictures it significantly cut down on my blogging ability
For Passover I went to my friend Dan's parents. There were 40 guests and at least 20 Jewish mothers so that there was enough food to feed an army. Damien came with me and made the rookie mistake of taking a second bowl of matzo ball soup. By the time the 15-20 desserts came out he was in too much pain to enjoy them. It was a vegan Passover which further complicated the food process. After reading vegan blogs I was good and avoided using white sugar only to find out later that only American sugar is problematic and that Australian sugar would have been fine. We brought a fruit tray and a veggie tray with green goddess dressing, eggplant dip, vegan chocolate, and passion fruit sauce.
Green goddess: 1 avocado, 2tbsps tahini, 2 cloves garlic, a handful of parsley, a splash of Apple cider vinegar and enough water to make it the desired consistency.
Vegan chocolate dip: 1/4 cup chocolate powder, 2ozs chocolate melted,  1/2 cup dates, 1/4 cup almond milk-blend. Eat.
Damien was unfamiliar with melon balls so we made a ball fruit platter with melonx3, pineapple balls, apple balls, kiwi balls, peach balls, and grapes.
Over my 4 day Easter break we did the 2 bays track 21km day 1, 26km day 2 with over night camping.
Work is going well. I'm moving out of Werribee after this week and concentrating my efforts in Altona and Melton, both of which are nicer and easier to get to.
Up to Cann river tomorrow in the middle of nowhere for my monthly visit. On the way back we are spending a day and a half in Cape conrahn. It is beautiful. I will try to take pictures with a camera and not just my eyes.
