Since I had a week off school I took a trip to Adelaide. I have a friend who is moving from Adelaide back to Melbourne so we saw many of the Adelaide highlights in between packing and cleaning for inspections.
Saturday: tonight was the last day of the Cabaret festival which hosted shows all over Adelaide. We saw 3 shows. The first was a small show called "in this silence" the actress sang the song from Frozen. I was thrilled. Then we saw an amazing show called "The new score" a fusion of classical, pop, hip hop and rap. It was an amazing show by the Raah project with special guests Kate caberano, Kylie Auldist, iOTA, and Darlene Love. The last show was a small scale variety show. It was fun but less spectacular.
Sunday: In the morning we went to the farmers market and loaded up with so much fresh delicious food that there were still leftovers on Friday. For lunch, we went to Hallet Cove and did a hilly yet beautiful coastal walk back to Glenelg.
Monday: We check out Adelaide art. We went to the aboriginal museum, the museum and then took a guided tour of the art museum. The art tour was really good. We had lunch at a Vietnamese roll shop and then second lunch at a Belgian beer cafe. Both of which were delicious. Monday is netball night so I attended my first ever netball game and go to run the score board. It was fun I think that I could handle playing.
Tuesday: I took a run around the city and through an outdoor gym. Then we went to a Pilates class. I'm supposed to have a Pilates certification but it's so hard :/ After Pilates we took a walk along the river and went to North Adelaide for a lovely Tai dinner. Then basketball, a movie and lavender fudge from the market on Sunday.
Wednesday: Food day! We started at Latina Cacina. It is definitely the best Mexican I've had in Australia. I really wanted to hike Mt. Lofty but the weather was terrible. We got to the top and decided to postpone. Instead we went to the botanical garden and then Handorf a German village in the Adelaide hills. When all the shops closed at 5pm we went out to dinner at Parwana a delicious Afghan restraint. It was packed. We called for a reservation and they called back when there was a table at 8pm.
Thursday: We tried again for Mt. Lofty, it was still overcast but a bit warmer. We hiked up, ate breakfast at the top an walked back down. I spent the afternoon at the national wine center. A building with beautiful architecture, beautiful gardens, and a wine gallery. They also have wine tasting of the best wines in Australia including Penfolds Grange for $27 for 35ml(it's a $700 bottle of wine considered one of the best in the world).
Then we went to see Joseph Stigletes the #3 economist in the world who was giving a lecture on the Price of Inequlity. It was amazing. After the lecuture we went for a Parmi because I had been begging for one all week. Followed by drinks with my classmate who's from Adelaide.
Friday: Up and goin early for breakfast in Glenelg with the best coffee in Adelaide. It was very windy but still quite fun. I had a 4pm flight so I headed to the airport just in time to miss check in. :/ by seconds really! I didn't even realsise that I was running late. I got a flight at 7pm instead, which was delayed because of the weather. I finally it back to Melbourne at 10pm. To go to Billy's going away party. Kat's boyfriend Billy is moving to German on Sunday so I wanted to be back to send him off. It was a good night.
And that was my splendid week exploring Adelaide.
