Happy Sidney Crosby's birthday! I spent the whole thing working but I did get to look at hockey pictures during lunch. I am really enjoying working at the children's hospital even the grumpy kids are absolutely wonderful.  One of my Cystic Fibrosis patients is being evaluated for a lung transplant so I got to do quite a bit of research to the types, reasons, and problems with lung transplants in CF. Let me give you the highlights.  With CF both lungs have to be replaced at once to prevent infection.  Historically it was a very difficult controversial decision due to the high incidents of complications however in the past 2-3 years huge improvements have been made both infection and rejection rates have dropped and a lung transplants can help CF patients to live longer, less symptom dependant lives. It is also important to mention that CF is a systemic disease that affects many systems including the lungs so that a lung replacement is a treatment not a cure for CF.  Cool Stuff. I also did Footy training tonight.  The team is playing the first round of finals(playoffs) this weekend.
