6/30/2014

Kat headed home to Young this morning so I'm here by myself all week. I also have a friend who is alone this week. She has been asking for a cheesecake for months so I invited her over for dinner and cheesecake. I made stuffed peppers and a caramel apple cheesecake. mmmm….
Other than yoga class, I felt that I spend all day doing dishes.

6/28-29/2014

Weekend footy! On Saturday, I took my normal team. We lost by 1 goal. Sunday, I filled in for a friend covering the under 12 and under 14 teams. It rained buckets. I was so cold that it took me hours to warm back up. I spent the rest of the day cooking, being lazy, and watching Suits. I'm not sure if I like Suits but I've watched 2 seasons worth anyway. In my cooking spree I made meatballs with polenta. So good! The recipe makes 24meatballs and Kat and I have eaten most of them in 1 day.

6/21/2014-6/27/2014

Since I had a week off school I took a trip to Adelaide. I have a friend who is moving from Adelaide back to Melbourne so we saw many of the Adelaide highlights in between packing and cleaning for inspections.
Saturday: tonight was the last day of the Cabaret festival which hosted shows all over Adelaide. We saw 3 shows. The first was a small show called "in this silence" the actress sang the song from Frozen. I was thrilled. Then we saw an amazing show called "The new score" a fusion of classical, pop, hip hop and rap. It was an amazing show by the Raah project with special guests Kate caberano, Kylie Auldist, iOTA, and Darlene Love. The last show was a small scale variety show. It was fun but less spectacular.

Sunday: In the morning we went to the farmers market and loaded up with so much fresh delicious food that there were still leftovers on Friday.  For lunch, we went to Hallet Cove and did a hilly yet beautiful coastal walk back to Glenelg.

Monday: We check out Adelaide art. We went to the aboriginal museum, the museum and then took a guided tour of the art museum. The art tour was really good. We had lunch at a Vietnamese roll shop and then second lunch at a Belgian beer cafe. Both of which were delicious. Monday is netball night so I attended my first ever netball game and go to run the score board. It was fun I think that I could handle playing.

Tuesday: I took a run around the city and through an outdoor gym. Then we went to a Pilates class. I'm supposed to have a Pilates certification but it's so hard :/ After Pilates we took a walk along the river and went to North Adelaide for a lovely Tai dinner. Then basketball,  a movie and lavender fudge from the market on Sunday.

Wednesday: Food day! We started at Latina Cacina. It is definitely the best Mexican I've had in Australia. I really wanted to hike Mt. Lofty but the weather was terrible. We got to the top and decided to postpone. Instead we went to the botanical garden and then Handorf a German village in the Adelaide hills. When all the shops closed at 5pm we went out to dinner at Parwana a delicious Afghan restraint. It was packed. We called for a reservation and they called back when there was a table at 8pm.

Thursday: We tried again for Mt. Lofty, it was still overcast but a bit warmer. We hiked up, ate breakfast at the top an walked back down. I spent the afternoon at the national wine center. A building with beautiful architecture, beautiful gardens, and a wine gallery. They also have wine tasting of the best wines in Australia including Penfolds Grange for $27 for 35ml(it's a $700 bottle of wine considered one of the best in the world).
Then we went to see Joseph Stigletes the #3 economist in the world who was giving a lecture on the Price of Inequlity. It was amazing. After the lecuture we went for a Parmi because I had been begging for one all week. Followed by drinks with my classmate who's from Adelaide.

Friday: Up and goin early for breakfast in Glenelg with the best coffee in Adelaide. It was very windy but still quite fun. I had a 4pm flight so I headed to the airport just in time to miss check in. :/ by seconds really! I didn't even realsise that I was running late. I got a flight at 7pm instead, which was delayed because of the weather. I finally it back to Melbourne at 10pm. To go to Billy's going away party. Kat's boyfriend Billy is moving to German on Sunday so I wanted to be back to send him off. It was a good night.

And that was my splendid week exploring Adelaide.

6/19/2014

First day of holidays!! How exciting! I celebrated by waking up early, cleaning my house, getting inspected and writing a paper. The house inspection went well. Our house is really really clean right now. I'm sure it won't last a day. The paper is not going so well. I spent an hour on it. Then I took a nap. I spent another hour on it and then I went to bed. It's a tiny bit tedious and tiring but in general it's a good assignment. I have 4 or the 6-8 pages that I need to complete by tomorrow at noon. In between the write paper/sleep sequence I went rock climbing. I'm starting to get better but I'm also getting impatient. I prefer to skip bits that I can't do instead of working past them, which isn't going to help me improve. Korean for dinner. My friends were makig fun of my huge wallet so I paid all in coins to flatten it out.

6/16/2014

Pharmacology exam day! It started out miserable but then turned sunny right before my exam. So...I decided to run to the exam. Totally a good call. The exam was long. 45 multiple choice, 5 short answer, and 3 essays. It was a 3 hour exam. I needed 2 hours and 50 minutes. On the way to the exam Kat got a flat tire so we took turns carrying her bike the 2.5 miles home from where she left it. I meant to do work tonight but instead ate pasta and played ticket to ride. Oops.

6/15/2014

I think I studied today. I don't know that any of it sank in. I'm so ready to take the exams. Too much studying. I feel brain dead. Tuba came over this morning and we had a good 3 hours of studying. I studied for a bit more and the. Went to hot yoga with a friend. I'm trying to get the most out of my $30 for 3 weeks unlimited yoga. I did well. It was really really hot today probably because it was a weekend so the class was full. Then I came home and tried to study more to put a little more knowledge into my head before my exam tomorrow.

6/14/2014

Footy game this morning. I hadn't fixed my bike yet so I took the train and walked to the field. We won by about 20 points. I was supposed to meet with Tuba to study this afternoon but she got lost and discouraged so we put it off till tomorrow. I meant to study more this evening but only got about 2 more hours in. I'm so excited to be done with exams in only 4 more days.

6/13/2013

Exciting Friday! I spent it studying. My friend Angela came over with quince cake to study with us. Kat, Ange and I got distracted after about 2 hours. The cake was delicious. I did a bit of business homework and then went climbing. Sylvie and I did 9 climbs. They were quite hard. My fingers were really sore. Laksa for dinner. Mmmmmm

6/12/2014

I started out the day with a bit of yoga. I did my second hot yoga class this morning. Some things felt easier other things felt harder the relaxation seemed much too long. Today was my exercise, sports, and manual therapy exam. I met with classmates for lunch and study at 12:00pm and we studied until the exam at 3pm. The exam was very detailed and quite hard. I had both a brain and a hand cramp afterward. It was also my friend steph's exam today she was in all of my classes but had to redo a placement so now she is half a year behind. After both of our exams we joined several of our classmates for a study break at the pub. We had dinner played trivia and got a lesson in gin tasting. Back to studying pharmacology in the morning.

6/11/2014

So many computer problems today! I had a Genius Bar appointment this morning at 9:30 I took my computer in and it seemed to be working fine. They said to really figure out all the problems they would need to hold onto it for 5 days. Since it was working just fine I took it home with the plan to bring it back after exams. Then a few hours later it died again. Completely unresponsive. I chatted with a mac genius who was completely unhelpful. Now I can't take it back in until Monday because they have no time slots. :( and then they'll have to keep it for a week. Silly computer. Good thing I have apple care.

6/10/2014

Sorry for the delay. I feel like there is always a delay. My computer died last Thursday and it is just now back in working order. I had a pretty good weekend with laksa and Ethiopian food a run, a bike ride, a party for the Queen's birthday and lots of studying. Today was my first exam. It was in leadership and management. The exam was exactly the same as the practice exam. I think that I answered it correctly. Kat and I had done the practice test together so that we ended up with very similar answers on the actual exam as well. I was having a bad day so after my exam I went to hot yoga. I had been meaning to for a while and it seemed like a good idea.
It is a bit hard to follow and some of the stretches are very intense. I paid for class today and I can continue going for free over the next 3 weeks. Pretty sweet if you ask me!

6/6/2014

I didn't do nearly as much studying as I meant to today. I did see Malificent, which is very good, mop my floor, make cookies, rock climb, and go out to dinner... I don't think any of that is going to help me score well on my exam...

6/5/2014

I had an epic day of studying. I decided this morning that I would spend 10 hours actively studying. I started with the posterior knee, went to a meeting came home worked pretty steadily until 5:30pm when my computer died. It just turned off and was done. No idea why or what happened. It was just done. I took a break, talked to apple and got out an old computer. Very, very luckily almost everything was backed up or online. The only thing I lost was my list of article summaries for the exam Tuesday. Nothing too big. I guess computer problems are pretty common because the apple store is booked out until Sunday. Yikes! Anyway I just resigned myself to not being able to use the computer. I finished the 10 hours at around 12:30. I would have been done earlier but I took a cleaning break around 8:30 to vacuum and clean the kitchen. Everyone cross their fingers for me that when I wake up my computer has come back to life.

6/4/2014

Alright pretty much all I did today was study. I woke up at 8:30, studied until I got to the knee lecuture. The knee is 126jam-packed slides. It slowed me down a bit. I had done about 1/3 and was up to 5pages of notes when I decided it was bed time. At one point I was so discouraged that I took a kitchen cleaning break. Then got back to it and studied until work at 5:30. I read half an article at work got home at 9 and studied until midnight. I studied all day with pretty minor breaks but I feel like I didn't get anywhere :(

6/3/2014

We had a review session that took up the morning. I went on a lunch time swim, the I did musc practice then finally around 3 I got home to start studying. I did a bit. But could have done more.

6/2/2014

Hey study study study study. Make cake. Get angry about pharmacology. Study study pick up dry leaning. Study

6/1/2014

It's June 1st. Dookie 5k day. We got up early and set up for the run. It was bucketing down rain as we set up the course. We had some issues with identifying actual roads by google maps so we changed the route this morning. We drove around and quickly jumped out of the car to set up cones and caution tape marking the course. I got a few calls this morning about parents concerned about their children in the rain, which meant that most of out participants didn't run. It was actually so rainy that ducks started swimming in the puddles.
We started to get nervous but our first participant showed up and we were thrilled. We ended up with 6 runners significantly less than the 40 we had expected but with the rain it was a good turnout. All 4 of us ran with the group, it was very fun. Fun+run=fun run! Success! And everyone got a prize! After the race finished we had an hour of clean up and we headed back. I biked back to Shepparton which is somewhere between 26 and 32km from Dookie. Google maps disagreed with the road signs. I got to Shepparton 2.5 hours before my train back so I went out for coffee and French fries with my friend Tuba whose at home in Shepparton for study week.
The train ride back was the perfect time to listen to today's new welcome to nightvale, my new favourite podcast.
Back in Melbourne I had an exam to take and so much study to catch up on after my weekend of event organisation.
